Asghar Farhadi's new offering to open Cannes Filmfest 2018

Double Oscar-winner Iranian director Asghar Farhadi's new movie is set to open the 2018 Festival de Cannes.

According to the event's media release, Farhadi's 'Everybody Knows' will open the 71st run of the prestigious Cannes Film Festival on May 8, 2018.

The flick being a psychological thriller enjoys world-renowned cast such as Penelope Cruz, Javier Bardem and Ricardo Darin.

Penned by Farhadi, 'Everybody Knows' follows the journey of Laura (played by Cruz) who travels with her family from Buenos Aires to her native village in Spain. An unexpected event twists the plot.

Asghar Farhadi is best known by his masterpieces 'A Separation' and 'The Salesman'. Both movies won the foreign language film Oscar.

The 71st edition of Festival de Cannes is slated for May 8-19, 2018.
